Because educational standards in the San Francisco area is very poor, the Fundación de la Santa Cruz has set up a Montessori Preschool program, which intends to expand in the upcoming years into an elementary school program. The necessary facilities were built, teaching materials purchased and a group of professionals are now dedicated to Montessori teaching with the help of external advisors. The older children, who do not attend our Montessori program, attend local schools.

Non formal education is provided through the National Learning Service (SENA in Spanish) and the local Coffee Growers Committee. Some youths have also attended courses in special training institutes in Bogota .
