15 years ago and aware of the political, economic, social and moral crisis in Colombia, the Fundación de la Santa Cruz decided to put in its own effort in helping forsaken and abandoned children. Ever since, activities have been structured to provide comprehensive care to those that are most in need. Such cares included satisfying basic needs such as nutrition and housing, together with medical and psychological care and education as well as foster-home care for children from families, which for different reasons, are unable to care for them.

To this end, the Fundación de la Santa Cruz developed three programs that are aimed at providing important assistance to specific groups of the population. These are model programs that may be repeated throughout any part of Colombia.
